“Choke” is an acrylic painting from the “Mid-Breath” series of paintings I created. It features a tree wrapped in christmas lights and an electric outlet, ready for winter, despite it being summertime. It was painted during a ArtWalk festival on Whyte Ave, Edmonton, AB, and is trying to capture a gaze of something off the usual path of your eye site. “Mid-Breath” is a series focused on the meditation concepts of presence while in a city and aims to find meaning in where our gaze might rest. Where our mind isn’t normally present while in “Mid-breath” combines concepts of awareness and breathing in meditation with observing our urban environment.
